ILERA is an innovative organization committed to uplifting families, communities and agencies through exemplary sexuality education programming. Our unique services specifically focus on: cultural factors influencing sexuality, sexual abuse, healing and wellness.
ILERA's services are geared towards social service agencies, educational institutions, organizations assisting traumatized adults and adolescents, religious/spiritual communities and individuals seeking healing from sexual abuse. Child welfare organizations, colleges, high schools and other non-profit agencies have recognized the need to implement ILERA's professional development trainings, educational workshops and support groups with their client populations.
ILERA is a word, which originates from the Yoruba culture of Southwest Nigeria meaning TRIUMPH and HEALTH. This definition embodies ILERA's mission to:
1) Strengthen our communities by providing professional trainings and educational workshops on sexual abuse, intimate partner violence, vicarious trauma, wellness and sacred sexuality
2) Offer an empowering experience of healing to people who have experienced sexual abuse and other negative sexual experiences through individual counseling and support group services
3) Increase public awareness by providing educational material through ILERA's research studies, books, newsletters and art projects |
