I. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAININGS
Half or full day trainings are customized to fit the needs of organizations committed to educating their staff about sexuality, sexual abuse, domestic violence, vicarious trauma and wellness.
II. SUPPORT GROUPS & PROGRAMS
Empowered Choices – an ongoing weekly educational support group for adolescent girls that helps them examine how they are socialized and gives them courage to assess how their environment influences and shapes their feelings and actions.
Open Your Heart - a proactive program that bridges the gap between teenagers and adults to honestly communicate about sexuality in a safe environment. Parents, guardians and their teenage children explore how they were taught about sexuality and learn new ways to truly listen to each other with love and respect.
The Power of Transformation − a program to help direct support professionals and administrators identify how vicarious trauma affects workers and agencies who serve neglected and abused clients. Wellness and self-care strategies are learned to minimize the negative effects of vicarious trauma.
Our Brothers, Our Allies - a ten week sexual violence prevention education group for men and boys. By the end of the program, men and boys become committed allies to end sexual violence.
Taking Back My Life - an eight week support group to empower women survivors of sexual abuse and intimiate partner violence. This is a Center of Spiritual Light program that ILERA co-sponsors and facilitates.
Real Love - a seven week educational support group for adolescent girls who have witnessed and/or experienced domestic violence.
III. WORKSHOPS
Hush Hush- a half or full day workshop that educates adults, families and communities about the impact culture has on sexuality. Participants explore their past conditioning about sexuality and discover new ways to create positive images for themselves and mentor others.
IV. KEYNOTE SPEECHES & BOOK DISSCUSION GROUPS
Author DeShannon Bowens delivers customized speeches on sexuality empowerment highlighting her book Hush Hush. Book clubs may contact the author directly to start reading discussion groups.
V. EMPOWERMENT COUNSELING
Counseling is being offered by phone to individuals who are 18 years of age or older. If you are interested in having support to address sexuality or spirituality related issues please use the contact page to inquire about fees and availability. Space is limited.
